I love cajun food and eat it in every city I visit. I have never had better seafood gumbo than what Sambets serves. A funky little place with great food!!!

Great place to eat with a good cajun style ambiance. And don’t get me started on the fried turkeys…yumm!

I’ve wanted to slap the cook ever since I took my first bite! This is quality food.

I love the poboys, but the gumbo is way too salty.

if you ever taste the gumbo and it’s too salty, it just means that it has simmered down while on the line and needs water added. please tell us if that ever is the case. we try to taste everything every coupla hours and adjust, but sometimes when real busy, it slips by- so i need y’all to let me know if there’s a problem! thanks so much for your comment!

I eat at Sambets at least once a week. I LOVE THE GUMBO! But yes, sometimes it is a little too salty. I compensate by drinking more water. :)

I list Cajun as my favorite cusine and Sambet’s is the best gumbo I have ever run across. Definately worth the trip if you enjoy great Cajun food.

Love the po-boys! Will you have any Mardi Gras celebrations? Some good Xydeco music?

The muffaletta is better than you can find in New Orleans or anywhere else for that matter. Most authentic gumbo I have ever had. I thought my gumbo was the best then I had Sambet’s. They set the bar. I cannot say enough good things about the food. Eat and love it. If you do not like it you do not know creole food.

WE LOVE THIS PLACE! It is like a little piece of New Orleans and I am lucky enough to live close enough to enjoy it! We are going there tonight for some of the best Crawfish outside of LA!

I just had my crawfish boil and you were my choice for the little mudbugs. I’ve bought from you in years past and I have to say, this year’s crop of crawfish were phenomenal. The four sacks were devoured by everyone. The bugs were good size, clean, and we only found a handful of dead ones. Your prices were 50 cents less than the other fellows in town and the service was, as always, excellent.

I’ll always call you first when I hold my annual boil.

    Cheers!

The best Cajun food I’ve ever tasted! Mix the Jambalaya or Shrimp Etouffee with a cold beer and let your taste buds melt. This place really is the best-kept secret in Austin!
